What’s in a Name?

Time for something fun!

Many writers tell me their lives are boring. These writers often produce boring stories about vampires. Many of them are good writers, but they don’t know where to pan for gold.

In the blogosphere, there are a number of personal blogs and their creators don’t consider themselves writers. They write about their daily lives and the gold flows like water.  Belinda O is one of these blogs. The article by Belinda, the blog’s author, about her coffee table–yes, I said coffee table–made me want to read more. It is an authentic glimpse into her world. You can read it here My Oasis of Chaos.

Writing your own truth is the hardest thing to teach even very talented writers.

To me, this blog exemplifies what a personal blog should be. I think more people need to read her work, so re-blog, re-post, tweet, Facebook and Pin away!

I am recommending writers and non-writers read this blog. My favorite post, so far, is the one linked below. It is not very long, but what I great story. Writers, look at how she turned the mundane happening of never seeing her name pre-written on anything into something extraordinary. Try writing a story about your name.

This is the gold.
