This is a hard one. I’m a lot things; stubborn, angry, impatient, self-centered, insecure. But I’m also kind, giving, compassionate, dependable, confident in my writing, and smart.
I thought about the word eclectic which means deriving ideas, style or taste from a broad range of sources. But that doesn’t cover it. It fits for my writing and work experiences. I’ve worked as a writer, graphic artist, administrative assistant, fundraiser and a psychic. My writing covers playwriting, screenwriting, novels, poetry, articles, content writing and includes the topics racism, dryer safety, dinosaurs, whale watches, copyright and family issues.
One time, a friend of mine helping my with a resume, described me as a “dogged researcher.” I liked it. It’s an uncommon word and has the word ‘dog’ in it. Not to be confused with the slang term dogged which implies following a person relentlessly.
Dogged means to pursue something with tenacity and determination, it also implies a faithfulness and dependability. These are all characteristics I feel define me in my work life, but not always in my daily life.
That word for the daily me is curiosity. I am curious about the world and people. Learning new things and sharing them is why I started this blog.
I guess it’s two words–dogged curiosity.
